The first date to know is actually a range of dates, and they all center on your birthday. For a total of seven months, three months on either side of your birthday month, as well as your birthday month, you can enroll in Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. But this is just the start of the various date ranges that you should be aware of.
The next date range is October 15 through December 7 and this is commonly referred to as the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. During this time, if you have the original Medicare Parts A and B, you now can make a change to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan with or without drug coverage. If you enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan during your initial enrollment, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan.
